The United Nations in Thailand

UNDP is only one of almost 20 UN agencies that have programmes in Thailand, which comprise the UN Country Team in Thailand. A number of the UN’s regional organisations are also based in Bangkok, including the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and the Asia-Pacific regional centre of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP-RCB).

Resident Coordinator

The United Nations Resident Coordinator is the designated representative of the UN Secretary-General for development operations in a given country and the leader of the United Nations Country Team. The Resident Coordinator is responsible for promoting the UN global agenda and ensuring that there is collaboration, coherence and cooperation among the activities undertaken by the UN agencies and between the UN and other development partners.

The UN Resident Coordinator in Thailand is Gwi-Yeop Son, who is also the Resident Representative of UNDP in Thailand.
