Aid Effectiveness
Thailand is a signatory to the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness, which was signed by over a hundred countries in March 2005 to improve the way aid is delivered, used and managed. In October 2006, UNDP Thailand, together with the Delegation of the European Commission in Thailand and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organised a workshop in Bangkok on aid effectiveness that recommended 12 policy messages for Thailand to streamline its Official Development Aid (ODA) programme.

UNDP Thailand’s International Partnership for Development Programme has since supported Thailand in making its development expertise better known around the world. At a workshop in Budapest in March 2007, Thailand shared lessons learned with other middle-income countries, particularly those in Eastern Europe, about managing technical assistance and grants and in South-South cooperation activities. In April 2007, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand participated in a symposium on coordinating development cooperation held in Vienna. Participants focused on the role of ownership and good governance in managing development cooperation and ODA, as well as mutual accountability by donors and recipient countries.
UNDP Thailand, through the IPDP programme, is currently providing advisory services on aid coordination to the Thai Government in order to assess Thailand’s current ODA policies and tracking system.
