International Partnership for Development in Thailand

A key component of UNDP’s work in Thailand focuses on supporting Thailand’s role as an emerging aid donor and as a contributor to the global partnership for development, called for in Millennium Development Goal 8.

To this end, UNDP’s International Partnership for Development Programme (project brief, project document) in Thailand works in five areas:

  • Supporting new initiatives to enhance “South-South” cooperation between Thailand and developing countries within region and beyond, such as the Thailand-Africa Partnership for Development
  • Strengthening the effectiveness and coordination of Thailand’s Official Development Assistance (ODA), in line with global efforts to increase aid effectiveness and Thailand’s commitment to the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness
  • Analysis, documentation and dissemination of Thailand’s development experience and lessons learned, particularly in HIV/AIDS, sustainable agriculture and micro-finance at the community level.
  • Promoting Thai nationals serving abroad as volunteers.
  • Promoting partnerships between the UN system and the Thai private sector.
