Slogan Contest Winners Announced to Promote Thai Women in Politics

6 December 2006, Bangkok: After reviewing hundreds of entries from university students across Thailand, organizers from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and the Women for Democratic Development Foundation, have announced winners of the contest.

The four winners were Mr. Amnat Jantabtim, Ms. Chonphicha Songsaree, Ms. Chonthicha Sakonrattanawong and Mr. Nitisak Akaramahawiet. As part of the campaign in promoting woman and the 2007 Constitution, an introductory briefing was held by H.E. Paiboon Wattanasiritham, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, joined by Dr. Juree Vichit-vadakarn, Chairperson of the Women for Democratic Development Foundation, Dr. Suteera Vichitranond, Chairperson of the Gender and Development Research Institute and Mr. Hakan Bjorkman, UNDP Programme Director and Deputy Resident Representative.

The upcoming national meeting on “Women and the 2007 Constitution “will be held on 15 Friday at Thai-Japanese Youth Center.
