UNDP helps strengthening NGO's responses to HIV/AIDS
19 December 2008 – Non-governmental organizations in Thailand have been a driving force behind efforts to take active part in solving HIV/AIDS problems. Over the years, groups and networks of people living with HIV/AIDS have played a central role in promoting access to AIDS drugs and contributing to rights and equality for people living with HIV/AIDS.
A new book recently published in Thai and English languages entitled “From People of Number Zero to a Leader in People’s Sector” contains stories about the works and movements in the past decade of the Thai Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (TNP+), the NGO comprising members of people living with HIV/AIDS. TNP+ was awarded the Red Ribbon Award in August 2006 at the International AIDS Conference in Toronto.
The book aims to share stories, experiences and to inform the public about TNP+, including their roles and future directions to enhance their responses to HIV/AIDS and other social issues.
The production of the book was supported by UNDP with an aim at strengthening the roles of the NGO -- as joint efforts to address global issues on common concern.
The book can be obtained from TNP+.
