Thailand is being 'Creative' as it looks for innovative ways to grow and adapt to new economic realities. The National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB), in partnership with UNDP, are moving forward with a new strategy to build a "Creative Economy," a complementary economic model that uses creative assets to generate economic growth and development. In short, it is a way of turning creative ideas into an economic reality.

Launch of the Global Commission on HIV and the Law

Geneva, Switzerland – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with the support of the UNAIDS Secretariat, launched the Global Commission on HIV and the Law today. The Commission’s aim is to increase understanding of the impact of the legal environment on national HIV responses. Its aim is to focus on how laws and law enforcement can support, rather than block, effective HIV responses.

Payments for Ecosystem Services in Thailand: why and how?

Lampang City Plans for ‘Low Carbon’ Way

Eighty participants from various groups in Lampang City come together to plan for Lampang to reduce greenhouse gas emission in city development. The “Towards the Low Carbon City” Workshop was co-organised by Lampang Municipality, Thailand Environment Institute and UNDP. The activity is part of the‘Clean City Clean Mind’ Initiative, launched by UNDP earlier this year. The initiative aims to provide technical assistance and capacity building support to local government organisations to take steps to tackle climate change.

UNDP Administrator Helen Clark visits Thailand

Miss Helen Clark has made her first official visit to Thailand as UNDP Administrator. During her visit, she presided over the global launch of the UNDP Human Development Report 2009 in Bangkok. She has also held meetings with Thailand Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, Minister for Foreign Affair Kasit Piromya, Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment Suwit Khunkhitti, Minister of Interior Chavarat Charnvirakul, and Thailand women leaders.
